RE: The tariff classification of a mobile workstation from China.

Dear Ms. Davidson:

In your letter dated September 19, 2006, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The merchandise under consideration is identified as a mobile workstation, VPN #8205. The item is a computer desk constructed from MDF (medium density fiberboard) with white melamine laminate veneer. It features a sliding keyboard tray, casters for mobility and a bottom shelf that can store a CPU. The shelf has a half-circle opening that provides ample room for one’s legs while sitting at the desk. The workstation requires simple assembly. You have submitted a photograph of the workstation with your request.

The applicable subheading for the mobile workstation will be 9403.60.8080, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Other furniture and parts thereof: Other wooden furniture: Other, Other.” The rate of duty will be Free.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
