RE: The tariff classification of a women’s cardigan from China.

Dear Mr. Nelson:

In your letter dated March 28, 2006, you requested a classification ruling.

A sample of a women’s cardigan, identified as style NR112963, was submitted and will be returned as requested.

The garment is made of 100% cotton knit fabric whose surface measure more than 9 stitches per 2 centimeters in the direction in which the stitches were formed. The garment features a full front zippered opening, a self-fabric banded bottom, long raglan sleeves with cuffs, two front on seam pockets, and a hood with a drawstring. The panels of the garment are sewn together.

The applicable subheading for style NR112963 will be 6110.20.2079, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for sweaters, pulloversand similar articles, knitted or crocheted: Of cotton: Other: Other: Other: Women’s or girls’: Other. The duty rate will be 16.5% ad valorem.
