RE: The tariff classification of boys’ convertible pants from Bangladesh

Dear Ms. Ellingsen:

In your letter dated March 7, 2006 you requested a classification ruling.

Submitted style B3W544N, manufactured from woven fabric of 70% cotton/30% nylon, is a pair of trousers, styled by a zippered, fly opening, by an adjustable, fully elasticized waistband, by various pockets, and by an adjustable tab at each of the ankles, that detaches into a pair of shorts by unfastening the zipper surrounding each of the knees.

As you have requested, the sample garment is being returned.

The applicable subheading for this style will be 6203.42.4045, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for boys’trousersof cotton, other, trousers and breeches, boys’, other, other. The duty rate will be 16.6 per cent ad valorem.
