RE: The tariff classification of an Electronic Pressure Transducer

Dear Ms. Meligy:

In your letter dated April1, 2004, you requested a tariff classification ruling. No samples were submitted.

You submitted sheets for four items, NT Single Port Transducer - 4100, NT Vacuum Transducer -4150-4250, NT Flow Through Transducer - 4210, NT DI Water Transducer - 4130-4230. We assume the duplicate sheet for only the 4150-4250 is a clerical error.

Each is described as having a body and connectors to attach them to the fluid source and measure its pressure with one percent accuracy via an electrical output directly proportional to the pressure measured.

From the information in the Product Data Sheet for the 4100 which you faxed to our office on April 29, we take it that in all four, “standard electronic outputs enable easy integration with PLCs, control system and electronic displays”.

The applicable subheading for these four items will be 9026.20.40000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for instruments or appliances for measuring or checking pressure.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If you have any questions regarding the ruling, contact National Import Specialist J. Sheridan at 646-733-3012.

Sincerely,

Robert B. Swierupski
