RE: The tariff classification of a decorative glass bowl on a beaded metal stand

Dear Mr. Hubbard:

In your letter dated May 22, 2002, you requested a tariff classification ruling regarding a decorative glass bowl on a beaded metal stand.

A sample was submitted with your ruling request.

The glass bowl is approximately four inches high with an opening of approximately eight and a half inches. Although the metal portion of the product is used exclusively as a stand to support the glass bowl, this glass bowl can stand on its own without the support of the metal stand.

In your letter you indicated that the glass bowl will be used to hold potpourri and similar materials. You stated that the product will be marketed as a bathroom accessory.

Your letter states that the value of the glass bowl is eighty cents.

The applicable subheading for the glass bowl on a metal stand will be 7013.99.5000, HTS, which provides for glassware of a kind used for table, kitchen, toilet, office, indoor decoration or similar purposes...other glassware: other: other: other: valued over thirty cents but not over three dollars each.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If you have any questions regarding the ruling, contact National Import Specialist Jacob Bunin at 646-733-3027.

Sincerely,

Robert B. Swierupski
