RE: The tariff classification of Resimene 872 from Canada.

Dear Ms. Pierce:

In your letter dated March 26, 1999, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

Based on the technical literature submitted, Resimene 872 is an iso-butylated melamine-formaldehyde resin solution composed of approximately 48-52 percent resin, 44-48 percent iso-butanol and 4.5 percent formaldehyde, by weight.

The applicable subheading for the Resimene 872 will be 3909.20.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Amino-resins, phenolic resins and polyurethanes, in primary form: Melamine resins. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem.
