RE: The tariff classification of textile fabric tool aprons from India.

Dear Mr. Burke:

In your letter dated November 19,1997, on behalf of your client Travelon Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling.

Three samples of tool aprons accompanied your request for a ruling. The first, designated as style No. 83100 is a waist apron manufactured from 100% cotton plain woven canvas fabric. It measures 23.75 inches in width and 9.5 inches high. The apron contains thirteen pockets of various sizes which have been designed to hold various tools and building supplies such as nails, screws etc. A one inch wide nylon woven strap with a plastic buckle has been attached to the apron to facilitate its attachment to the wearer.

Style No. 82105 is a waist apron manufactured from 100% cotton woven fabric with a taped warp. It measures 23.5 inches in width and 9.5 inches high. The apron contains five pockets of various sizes which have been designed to hold various tools and building supplies such as nails, screws etc. A one inch wide cotton woven capping has been sewn along the top of the apron and extends beyond the edges of the apron forming tieing straps which facilitate its attachment to the wearer.

Style No. 81103 is a waist apron manufactured from 100% cotton woven canvas fabric. It measures 18 inches in width and 8.5 inches high. The apron contains three pockets which have been designed to hold various tools and building supplies such as nails, screws etc. Woven straps have been sewn onto the apron to facilitate its attachment to the wearer.

The applicable subheading for the three tool aprons will be 6307.90.9989, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other made up articles...other, other, other, other, other. The rate of duty will be 7 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
