RE: The tariff classification of Lanthanum Chloride Heptahydrate (CAS# 10025-84-0), in bulk form from Japan.

Dear Mr. Chivini:

In your letter dated August 28, 1995, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The applicable subheading for the Lanthanum Chloride Heptahydrate will be 2846.90.8000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for compounds, inorganic or organic, of rare-earth metals, of yttrium or of scandium, or of mixtures of these metals:... Other:... Other. The rate of duty will be 3.7 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
