Zenith 6,500 BTU Electronic Room Air Conditioner with Remote
Rating: 4 out of 5
Currently 4.0/5.0
Like most Zenith products their air conditioners are of a decent quality. Admitted they will not blow you away with their performance but they are steady and reliable. The Zenith 6500 BTU air conditioner is a great model for people looking to cool of a medium space such as a kitchen. If you are looking to cool down a larger space, you will find that the Zenith 6500 struggles a bit and will probably want to consider using a larger AC unit.
The Zenith 6500 BTU air conditioner has several nice qualities. First, the AC is very easy to install. It fits easily inside most window frames with only a little space left on either side. Also the unit is light enough that you do not need to set up supports for the portion hanging out the window. Finally, the Zenith 6500 BTU air conditioner has very intuitive controls and the remote allows you to operate the unit without having to get up from your chair.
While there are plenty of positive aspects with the Zenith 6500 BTU air conditioner, there are also a couple of draw backs. The most obvious problem with the Zenith unit is the fact that you need to make sure that you have the unit stored away during the winter, but this is true with most AC units. Also the Zenith unit tends to stop working as well if used for too long during the day.
In the end, if you are looking for a reasonably priced, functional AC unit, there is no reason not to pick up the Zenith 6500 BTU air conditioner for those who need a small or medium sized room cooled down. Just remember if you need to cool a larger area you are pretty much better off getting a larger unit.
Okay, I have a problem with this unit, when I set the thermostat to say 69 why is it that the compressor will only run for about two minutes and then kick off when the room is still sitting at 80°? I have cleaned the filter twice a week and still will not cool the room(100sqft). Please help if you can.
