There are knives and then there are KNIVES. Wustoff offers over 350 knives for different purposes. These laser forged blades are an outstanding addition to any kitchen and I was lucky enough to get a 23-piece set to help me along on my cooking adventures.

These knives are an asset to any kitchen. They are forged from high carbon stainless steel that is sharpened with laser precision. As each blade is of one piece construction they fit flawlessly into the tangs and a hard composite handle. The balance of each knife is perfect and the blades are easily honed and sharpened so that they can regain their razor sharp edges.

The knife set has just about every knife that a cook needs. While professionals may have more specialty knives in their arsenal, the non professional yet quality at home chef will really benefit from the 3-in. Paring Knife, 3-in. Serrated Bar Knife, 3-in. Birds Beak Peeling Knife, 4.5-in. Utility Knife, 4.5-in. Tomato Knife, 5-in. Boning Knife, 6-in. Meat Cleaver, 6-in. Sandwich Knife, 7-in. Santoku Knife, 8-in. Bread Knife, 8-in. Cook's Knife, 8-in. Slicing Knife, Sharpening Steel, and Kitchen Shears, all housed in a 22-slot Hardwood Storage Block with a set of 8 4.5-in. Steak Knives thrown in to the mix for good measure. With a price tag of $752.00 these knives do live up to their reputation as an outstanding buy. It takes over 40 steps to create each knife, but when they are completed, they'll last a lifetime of use.

The different knives provide some interesting cuts with the cook's knife being perhaps the most versatile and necessary tool in the entire set. The cook's knife may be used for mincing herbs such as parsley or cilantro, chopping onions, mushrooms or it can flatten meats for a quick sear. The Santoku knife resembles a Japanese Cook's Knife and is perfect for sushi and sashimi - or anything else you want to slice paper-thin. There are hollow indents in the blade that lets food slide right off the blade. You can use this for dicing vegetables as well. The tomato knife is a serrated edged knife with a fork at the end. It's perfect for cutting tomatoes, fruit like kiwi's or star fruit and other delicate foods that need a fine hand and can be lifted by the delicate fork. All the other knives are just as useful and make a cook's life much easier!

These knives are terrific just remember to keep then honed and they'll last forever!
