The NewAir AH-400 Portable Space Heater with Adjustable Temperature Control

The NewAir AH-400 Portable Space Heater with Adjustable Temperature Control may be what others are looking for in a space heater, but it wasn't for me. For starters, the heater releases a steady stream of scorching hot heat but the heat doesn't reach very far. It's kind of like a drizzle of heat hot enough to melt plastic if something is right up against the heater. However, back away a few inches and freeze to death. The heater doesn't have an even flow or even a good fan to circulate the heat generated.

I was a little concerned over the smell too. We've had oil filled heaters before and never experienced a problem. However, the NewAir AH-400 heater has a continual odor so strong, it's impossible to breathe without the overwhelming sensation of breathing fumes.

If the positives outweigh the negatives, the flat panel is a remarkable design. The heater will fit pretty much anywhere and is perfect for areas where limited space is a concern. Fits flat against walls or under counters and desks. There is an adjustable thermostat but I haven't been able to tell a big difference between the various and limited control settings. If anything, the heater just expends its energy and heating capacity all at one time as opposed to circulating a slow rising heat.

The heater has a higher wattage than most space heaters but I'm not sure how that helps if the heater itself isn't functioning. Without an internal fan to distribute the heat, there's no way I could recommend this heater. Sure, it's energy efficient and quiet as a mouse but I'd rather pay half the price for a functional heater that can supply a reliable amount of steady heat. Disappointing product and way overpriced.
