Swisher 60" pull behind mower 1,499.99

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

For a mower that is "designed to dramatically reduce mowing time" this pull behind mower we used behind our Polaris Sportsman Four- wheeler which our four wheeler had absolutely no problem pulling this mower that weighs 498 pounds. It has a huge cutting deck of 60 inches and a Briggs and Stratton 14.5 engine with an electric 12 volt key starter. This mower can cut grass up to six feet in height with finish cut quality and was easily adjusted to control the height of the cut. The pull behind can be front mounted or can me offset mounted for the mowing of ditches or under trees. First it rode very rough, so rough that it would bounce around harshly and make allot of racket. I ended up deflating the tires so it wouldn't crash about so much. The field I was in wasn't the smoothest, but my riding mower had no trouble with the uneven soil. I was always wondering what was going to break on the swisher whenever it started bouncing, but it never did have a structural failure. The mower actually only had one problem in the six years I used it in that field and that was the battery going dead. It's hard in Minnesota to keep from freezing up in the winter, but the cold destroys them. Anything much taller than eight inches would require me to cut it over again. There was plenty of power even for very tall weeds. It did go through two belts during the time I had it. I could mow six acres of heavy grass with a tank and a half and I pulled this behind a Polaris Sportsman 500. The paint was durable, however the tires needed to be sealed with the Green Slime I bought.
