I got tired of buying cheap push mowers that only lasted a couple of seasons before they had problems and had to be worked on or replaced. The self propelled Snapper 7800179 seemed to be a great choice. I do have some areas of my yard where assistance in moving the mower is greatly appreciated. The price of $359.99 is a little high, but not that much more than some other major brands.

The Briggs and Stratton engine is one that I've had good service from for years, so I was pleased to see Snapper using it. What I didn't know when I bought this mower was that there was no shear pin. I had problems in maintaining a constant speed with the mower from day one. If you are on perfectly flat ground, you won't have much trouble, but on the side of a hill, it's about as good to just push the mower without using the self propulsion feature.

The worst thing to happen with the Snapper was when I hit a rock in high grass and bent the cam shaft. This was the first mower I have ever owned that had this happen to it. I wouldn't have thought the rock was big enough to have caused that kind of damage.

I will say that the mower does an excellent job of cutting grass when it is working, and I have been very careful to not hit any more rocks.

The rear bagger is much more convenient to me than the side discharge. The wheel size of the Snapper is another design I like because so many of the ones I've owned in the past had the tiny wheels that made pushing difficult.

I can't give this mower as high of a rating as I would have knowing the ease at which it can become damaged, so I have to give it a 2 out of 5.
