When my place of business decided to get a small television to play videos demonstrating the use of our products on our kiosk in a local mall, I felt I was able to give my managers some good advice. I had been researching television units for myself and my parents and already had some information they could use on choosing a good television to place on the products cart from which we operated in the mall. Having selected a similar model for my own home use, mostly due to the fact that it was quite sharp in picture, I suggested my managers look in to purchasing a Samsung PN50C7000 for the kiosk. After some researching of their own, they agreed.

They chose this model primarily for its size. At 50", it is large enough to grab the attentions of passers-by and slim enough to not take up too much space amongst the products. The Plasma screen does not generate a lot of heat, and keeps the working area around the products within an acceptable temperature range. The television is well made and sturdy and not prone to falling apart. It is lightweight in comparison to tube models of the same size and could be easily maneuvered into position on the cart, though it was a bit unwieldy. The unit comes with a stand and audio/video cables, a remote control and user manuals. The cables are long enough to run through access holes in the kiosk to the cabinets underneath where we stored the DVD player that played the products video.

The picture on this model is very crisp and sharp, with a 1000:1 ratio and 720p resolution. The speakers are pretty nice for the unit, which work well for our own setting, although I am not sure how effective they would be in a home setting with surround sound as it hasn't been tested. There are several inputs for component, composite, S-video and RF signals. The RF signal input tells me that this is a slightly older model than some of the other ones we saw at Best Buy. The unit cost $1,200.00, and comes with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty.

This unit also has a PC input that allows for connection to a PC for viewing Hulu and Youtube and streaming audio to the set from a computer, although this is likely not a feature we would use in our job setting. We have only had it a few weeks, but we have been very happy with it. Our only caveat is that the video which we are playing on the unit is a rather cheaply done video demonstrating the products, and on this crisp and clear screen, the video looks like the low-budget home-made production that it is. Other than that, we do love this unit.
