The Panasonic NN-H765WF is a big (19.5" high x 22" wide), sturdy microwave, packed full of useful and innovative features.

Cooking with 1250 watts, this microwave is extremely fast and powerful. If you are not used to such a large wattage, it may take some getting used to; usually recommended cooking times have to be adjusted to prevent overcooking. However, one fantastic feature of this machine is that power levels can be adjusted. Normally microwave ovens alternate between short blasts of full-power and short blasts of no power, when on lower settings (meaning burnt edges, spills and cold centers). This oven actually emits constant but low level power when on a reduced power level, resulting in even cooking.

Equipped with a 'sensor cooking' facility, this microwave will automatically cook your food for the correct amount of time. It measures the amount of steam emitted by the cooking food, meaning it can adjust the cooking time accordingly. There is no need to set a timer - just close the door and press the sensor button. In addition to this, there are several 'keep warm' options to choose from. There are settings for gravy, meats and desserts, which keep food warm in the oven at just the right temperature. This is truly useful, as often I am doing many jobs at once in the kitchen, and don't always use the cooked food straight away. After many uses, this function has performed perfectly almost every time.

The popcorn setting works surprisingly well. The even power emission means that even though the wattage is so high, the microwave does not simply burn the outsides of the kernels. Sometimes there are a few left uncooked, but that no great problem. The even temperature that is maintained during cooking, also means defrosting is done properly. The outside edges do not get overcooked, while the middle remains frozen, as is so often the case with other models.

A multi-language keypad is extremely useful for telling you how to carry out a desired function. It takes you through the cooking process step by step. Since there are so many possible functions, this is an excellent idea.

This is a fairly expensive microwave, but it is extremely powerful (yet surprisingly quiet), and well specified. The functions actually do what they are meant to do, and it is so simple to operate. Being so sturdy, the Panasonic NN-H765WF Prestige is built to last a long time, so all things considered, it offers superb value for money.
