I have always thought that if you are going to undertake an activity, then you should give it your maximum, and to do so you need to have equipment to support it. Therefore, when I decided to go on a fitness push and purchase a treadmill, I did some research and was guided towards the Nordic Track c2000 version.

This neatly folding piece of apparatus, with its powerful 15HP motor, has proved to be an inspirational choice, giving me everything I need. It has 15 professionally designed programs built in, although to be honest I switch to manual control to go at my own pace.

The machine is completely safe and extremely simple to operate, with many useful features, such as its terrific cushioning system which allows adjustment between hard and soft, replicating road and grass surfaces. It has digital incline settings, together with hand grip pulse sensors to measure heart rate, an important factor in any fitness regime.

There is also an MP3 docking connection, with built in speakers, which is a crucial companion to have with you on your 'travels'. The display, on its large clear console, has a high resolution graphic, which is very easy to read, even with sweat running in your eyes - something I experience quite early in my runs, although I am improving!

I firmly believe this stands up very well in comparison with its competitors for what seems to be a good price of $1550; a figure which can be reduced with some shopping around online. For example, The Tunturi T20 seems to have similar capabilities, but the cheapest I have found is $200 more expensive. The Horizon Omega 2CS and Bremshey Path can be purchased for around £750, but are neither as sophisticated, or as pleasing on the eye, which granted is not particularly essential, but it does enter the equation.

With a 10 year warranty on the motor and 2 years on parts, the Nordic Track c2000 is the real deal and an ideal acquisition for fitness users of all levels.
