As something of a perfectionist when it comes to the look of my vehicle, I just had to get myself a polisher to obliterate those tiny imperfections which inevitably appear through everyday driving.* I didn't feel justification in going to the top of the range, as my need was simply cosmetic; so I shopped around and finally settled on the Meguiars dual action polisher G110v2.*
This 6 inch machine has a comprehensive range of speeds, with cruise control allowing easier detailing to be carried out.* It has actually taken some of the specific features of a rotary polisher and adapted them into this version.* Many dual action polishers lose their rotation once increased pressure is applied, but this product has an internal feedback circuit which adds torque when it receives downward pressure, giving greater power, speed and efficiency.*
It has 6 speed settings and possesses another similarity with a professional rotary buffer with its very easy side-port access for quick brush changes.* There is a 45 degree exit cord with the appliance and it also has extended wear brushes.* At 5.5 lbs the polisher is a comfortable weight to undertake all that intricate work.* There is also a canvas bag thrown in for storage, although if I'm honest, I have found alternative uses for that.*
At $176 I believe I have a good product, but I have since discovered Griot's Garage Random Orbital Polisher, which is also a 6 inch item and has an excellent specification, at a cost of around $50 less; so in hindsight, I probably would have taken a chance on that item, however, I am certainly not unhappy with my Meguiars DA polisher, it has done everything I required and even has some envious glances being cast over it by inquisitive neighbors.**
