Maytag Jetclean Plus Dishwasher

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

We recently remodeled the kitchen in our old house and decided to add a dishwasher. Nobody likes to do dishes, so the Maytag Jetclean Plus was a very welcome addition. It has a nice, clean white finish that looks great in our kitchen and controls that are super easy to grasp. I never had a dishwasher growing up, so the fact that I was able to get the controls on this one without ever really looking at the manual says something I think.

Inside, the Jetclean Plus is very sturdy and roomy. We've managed to squeeze 10-15 glasses on the upper rack easily , while the bottom rack has plenty of room for two 9" x 13" pans and then some. There have been some issues with debris from dishes on the lower rack ending up stuck on the glasses at the top, however. You would think that the dishwasher would take care of this on its final cycle, but it doesn't. So you have to rinse anything you'll be placing on the bottom rack thoroughly beforehand.

The Jetclean Plus does have some issues, however. First, it gets pretty hot during its drying cycle. While understandable, we've had some plastic dishware get partially melted once or twice. The exterior also gets a little hot and steamy, which may be an issue if you have kids around the house while its running. The major flaw we came across, however, is with the control panel. Just a few months after we bought this dishwasher, the control panel was fried - rendering the dishwasher useless. It was all covered under warranty, but it was still a hassle dealing with getting it fixed. It's running strong now, but at the time it was really inconvenient and Maytag wasn't exactly helpful in getting it fixed in a timely fashion. For the $500 I spent on this dishwasher, I certainly didn't expect it to break in just a few months. 3 out of 5 stars.
