If you have a home with more than 2 acres, this John Deere Commercial grade mower is what you need.
It's powered by a 25 horsepower Kholer engine, holds nine gallons of gas, and has a 60-inch, 7-gauge, stamped steel deck. Under the deck are three, 21-inch blades that are half an inch thick. This mower is a monster; but it can cut as low as 1.5 inches, and make your yard look like a golf course. It is heavy duty and extremely tough. To give you an example, here is an incident that happened last year: I accidentally hit a piece of rebar while I was mowing (not to mention a decent size rock) and the noise it made was horrible. After examining the mower, the only damage I could find, was paint scrapped on the side of the deck, and a very small nick on one of the blades. It is John Deere tough, through and through.
The control levers sit one on each side of the mower seat, and are powered by hydraulics. These levers control your direction, speed, and braking, and will take a bit of time and practice, to get used to.
Some good safety features include; a seatbelt and an emergency kill switch connected to the seat. If you accidentally fall off the mower, it will shut the engine off; but, if you set the parking brake and then get off, the mower will continue to run. This is good if you have to stop frequently during mowing to move things (like rebar & big rocks).
It does well on gas usage for its size and weight, which is about six and a half-foot long, six feet wide, and about 1300 pounds. When compared to the competition and mowers of the same type, it is more costly; but it is dependable, performs great, and they are built to be used.
