HSM 108.2 Compact Shredder

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

The HSM 108.2 Compact Shredder is ideal for a small business or an office that constantly needs to shred confidential papers and is simple to use. Once the shredder is turned on, it uses an electronic eye to automatically start or stop shredding paper. Should paper become jammed, it has a reverse button to release the paper. The reverse button is also great when someone hollers, "Wait! I still need that report!"

Unlike similar shredders, the HSM 108.2 runs quietly and can handle when a paperclip or staple goes through. In fact, it can even shred credit cards! The shredder will shred up to 13 sheets at a time and is built to be used continuously. Because of the thermally protected motor, there's no need to let the shredder cool down. This is a great timesaver. Our old shredder could be used for about twenty minutes and needed about an hour to cool down.

Although you're encouraged to buy special bags for the shredder, cheap bags work fine. You need bags that can contain up to 13 gallons. Once the bin is filled, the full indicator will come on. Thus, there's rarely a mess to clean up due to overflow.

This durable shredder is a convenient size, measuring approximately 16"x29"x11", and weighing 42 pounds. The shredder has proven to be very reliable and very safe to use. On average, the HSM 108.2 costs around $600. Compared to similar shredders, it's an average price. The buyer will also need to purchase oil and bags.
When we purchased the shredder for our office, it came with a ten year warranty on the blades and a two year warranty on parts and labor. We've have the shredder for about a year and have had absolutely no problems with it. This particular shredder only strip cuts. There is not an option of the dice (confetti) cut.

We are very pleased with the HSM 108.2 Compact Shredder.
