The Hoover Steam Vac Carpet Cleaner will require (some) assembly; a Phillips-head screwdriver is all that is needed.
This carpet cleaner has a modest set of features that more than suffice for general house cleaning.
The Agitator brushes have three settings; 1. Off- for cleaning bare floors and carpets when no scrubbing is needed, 2. Lo- for gentle cleaning (of carpets & bare floors) and 3. A High setting for regular cleaning of carpets and floors.
The handle has a natural, squeeze trigger to release the cleaning solution as well as a "Clean Surge" button for dispensing additional cleaner in high traffic and heavily soiled areas.
The Recovery Tank is easy to remove, empty and clean, and it has a built in "automatic shut off" feature. When the tank gets full, its suction will quit, and the sound of the motor will change to a higher pitch. The Clean Solution Tank is also easy to remove, and clean, and the cap doubles as a measuring cup for the cleaning solution.
There are also tools to connect to the Steam Vac hose that allow you to clean your furniture upholstery or carpeted stairs, and the small, powered hand tool also has rotating brushes in it.
The Steam Vac has a strong 12-amp motor, and is crafted with all of the quality and durability you have come to expect from Hoover. Mine has taken some abuse and done some serious cleaning, and it is still running like a champion.
The price was average to slightly below average when compared to other carpet cleaners with the same set of features.
