The Hamilton Beach Blender is a 14 speed blender with a 40 ounce jar that sits tip free. This blender says it can crush ice, blend smoothies, shakes and frozen drinks. I got this blender to make smoothies and to temporarily replace my food processor that broke. I really like how it blends the smoothies. They come out smooth and creamy. My main reason for getting it was to make my sweet potato soup in the winter. I really like how it blends all the ingredients together. I think it is actually faster to use this blender then it was to use my food processor. I find this blender to be very easy to clean. If you take it apart as soon as you are done using and run water through it you won't have to scrub on it later.
Over the last few weeks I have started making frozen drinks and I have been disappointed with the way this blender makes the drinks. It does not really crush the ice. I have to beat the ice before putting it in the blender and then all it does is make the ice into slush. I also noticed that since I started making the frozen drinks the black spinning top part of the motor is starting to shred and it will smell like the motor is starting to burn so I have to turn it off and wait a few seconds before I finish my drink.
Even thought this blender does not make the best frozen drinks I am still satisfied with it. It makes all the other things I need it to make. I do recommend that you buy this blender only if you are going to be using it for more than making frozen drinks.
