Haier CPN10-BTU Portable Air Conditioner

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

I purchased this Haier portable air conditioner to place upstairs to supplement the central air system in my home. While the downstairs is usually frigid, the upstairs stays pretty warm due to minimal vents. This unit says that it will cool up to 300 square feet but I figured since it is running in addition to my central air unit it would help cool the whole upstairs and it certainly does. I keep it in a hallway where the bedrooms all join and it really helps.

This is the first portable air conditioner that I have ever purchased and although $449.00 was quite costly in comparison to traditional window units, it was much less expensive than some other portable units. The dimensions are 19.5 x 37 x 23.5 and it weighs 66 pounds so it is quite heavy. I had to have help getting it upstairs but once it was there it was super easy to install. The ventilation hose is five feet long and it comes with a window installation kit that is so self explanatory that I did it myself with no problem and I am definitely a "handy" person naturally.

The unit is extremely easy to use. It has an LCD screen, simple controls and a remote control. There are three levels including fan, dehumidify and cool as well as three fan and cooling levels. This air conditioner is Eco-friendly, free of lead and mercury and it automatically evaporates the water so you do not have to dump any water out of it. It cools extremely well and I even use it just on the dehumidifier setting alone on cooler days that are humid that I normally would not be able to get away with having the windows open and it really decreases the humidity level up there.

I have not noticed any change in my electric bill from running it. The unit does have a 9.5 Energy Efficient Rating so I don't plan on it really affecting the bill too much no matter how long and hot the summer is. I really have no complaints about this portable air conditioner. It even looks appealing with its black and silver modern appearance. I am very pleased with my purchase.
