GE Profile PDWF800RBB 24" Builtin Dishwasher Black

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

This dishwasher was installed new in our home six years ago. The cost was approximately $875. It has sleek black styling with easy to read digital readout. It has a three digit countdown timer as well as buttons for rinse only, glasses cycle, china/crystal, normal, cookware, antibacterial, delay (up to nine hours), added heat, pre-wash, and heated dry. At any time while it is running you can tell which cycle it is in, such as cleaning, sensing, rinsing, drying, sanitizing, and clean (finished). While it seems as if there are a lot of buttons, it is very easy to understand and use. I also feel that it does a very good job cleaning all of the dishes in it.

You can hear when it is running, although it is barely audible. Both racks on the inside have independent cleaning arms for a better clean. The silverware basket is sectioned into 5 separate compartments which come with tops to hold in plastic utensils. The top rack comes with placement holders specifically made for wine glasses which I think saves my nicer glasses from banging against each other in the wash cycle.

The only drawbacks to this model are the wheels and the dishwasher detergent holder. The wheels frequently come off when pushing the lower rack in or pulling it out. Although they are easy to put back on, it is annoying to have to do it repeatedly. The dishwasher detergent holder worked for about the first year and then stopped opening during the cleaning cycle, so when I opened the dishwasher the soap was still in the holder. I began putting the soap in and just not shutting the lid, and so far it has worked okay. If GE could fix the two minor problems with the wheels and the detergent holder I would have no problem giving this dishwasher a 5/5 rating.
