This refrigerator is one of the products in Frigidaire's Professional series. It is made of genuine stainless steel, with a protective coating to reduce fingerprints and facilitate cleaning. It is sleek-looking, with top-mounted, out-of-view hinges. A water and ice (both crushed and cubed) dispenser is recessed in the freezer door. Above the dispenser is the user control touchpad. In addition to the water/crushed ice/cubed ice selections, the control panel enables the user to adjust the cooling temperatures for the freezer and refrigerator units separately, increase the production of ice, increase the freezing rate, and lock the current refrigerator settings. The lock feature also locks the ice and water dispensers. The control panel has indicator lights for the air and water filters, alerting the consumer when either needs replaced. The air filter is designed to reduce refrigerator odors, and the water filter filters the drinking water that is dispensed. Both filters are fairly easy to change, but the consumer needs to purchase these filters from Frigidaire or one of its dealers.

Both the refrigerator and freezer sections have sufficient storage for my purposes, but larger families may find it lacking in this respect. The refrigerator side has three sliding shelves. I particularly like the sliding feature, which makes it easier to find food and facilitates cleaning. It also has two see-through, humidity-controlled, fruit and vegetable drawers, and a deli drawer for lunch meats and cheeses. There is a built-in rack that will hold a bottle of wine or similar-size, tall bottle, which I find useful. There are two large adjustable bins and two smaller fixed bins on the door. There is also a dairy compartment, which is designed to be warmer than the rest of the refrigerator, for storing cheeses and butter. The freezer unit has the ice container, a shelf that is ideal for ice cream, two other shelves, and 2 baskets, one small and one large. There are also two fixed bins and two tilt-out bins on the freezer door.

I regard the need to contact the manufacturer or a dealer in order to purchase replacement air and water filters as a negative. Not only is it inconvenient, but the consumer is a price-taker in this instance. The refrigerator runs fairly quietly, but the ice dispenser can be noisy, relative to other units owned by friends of mine. As noted earlier, this model usually meets my current needs for storage capacity, but it does present a challenge during holidays when I pre-prepare a lot of food, and I doubt that it would offer adequate capacity for larger families.

This refrigerator has an MSRP of $1,799, which is within the price range of similar models made by Whirlpool, General Electric, and Maytag.
