The Epson R2880 photo printer is the perfect choice for wide format printing, photo enthusiasts, and graphic designers who need an affordable for proof prints. The print time is quick, the resolution (5760 x 1440) superb, and the quality excellent.
Epson is known as one of the leaders in photographic quality inkjet printing at an affordable cost. Most photographers use Epson printers in their studios. What impresses me is the speed that you get with printing color or black and white. You can also print on a wide variety of media including CDs, matte, glossy paper, heavy stock, and roll paper.
The upside to an Epson photo printer is the quality of the output i.e. the color, the clearness of the graphics. I have used other printers for photography printing and Epson is at the top of the bunch. I would use Epson for photographic prints and nothing else. You would be hard pressed to tell the difference between an original photo and a print from an Epson. In some cases, the printed picture might even look better.
The downsides are the weight of the printer, the cost of toner and the cost of the printer. At 25 pounds, this is not s light-weight printer. Epson toner is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Epson toner will last for at least 100 years. The printer costs at least $500, but it is worth the investment.
The average life span of a heavily used inkjet is about three years, but each time I purchased an Epson printer, I have managed to use the printer for twice as long. The durability of the Epson brand as well as the quality of output is why I would recommend this printer to a consumer. The printer has a one year limited warranty.
