Dell Color Laser Printer 1320c

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

Dell's Color Laser Printer 1320c is designed with small offices, small workgroups and tiny home offices in mind. Considering it's great, very affordable price, you might think the Dell's Color Laser Printer 1320c might be perfect for it's target market, but unfortunately, it's definetly lacking in quite a few areas.

Firstly, Dell's Color Laser Printer 1320c has very slow print speeds. Dell claims that it's 16ppm for monochrome, black and white printing, but 12ppm for color, which is a bit slower than average. However, Dell's Color Laser Printer 1320c always assumes you're printing in full color, and therefore always prints this slowly, unless you manually select the black-and-white printing option, which can get annoying and time-consuming. The quality of printing for text and black and white images, as well as color images is good when using Dell's Color Laser Printer 1320c. The text is clear and easy to read even at the tiniest sizes, and the images usually come out very sharp, crisp and clear.

Unfortunately, in the sake of having a lower pricepoint, Dell seems to have cut some corners with this model. You can only connect the printer via USB, and does have an Ethernet function, but you need to fork over $50 for an adapter and activation. If you want to use Dell's Color Laser Printer 1320c for an entire network, you need to pencil in a print server into your budget, which Dell offers for another $50. As well, Dell's Color Laser Printer 1320c can only handle 250 sheets of paper, much less than some other models. It also has a complicated interface and control buttons, which are a mess of various lights that you actually need to read the instruction booklet to understand - something rare in the world of printers these days.

Dell's Color Laser Printer 1320c is a printer that delivers high-quality results, but can be quite expensive and isn't the best when it comes to printing speeds and networking.
