I'll be perfectly honest when I say that when I decided that it was time to purchase a food processor, I didn't think to buy anything but Cuisinart. I think that somewhere in the back of my mind I knew that other companies made food processors, but I didn't even question that my first purchase would be a Cuisinart. I was right. At $299.00 the Cuisinart Elite Collection 14-cup Food Processor had by far the usable features of the other food processors available.
The Cuisinart Elite Collection 14-cup Food Processor (in a sleek, die cast brushed-steel model) is not only pretty to look at but a breeze to use and very easy to clean, with the exception of the feed tube, which, even though it is advertised as a "wide mouth feed tube" does tend to jam up with residue and which I usually have to clean by hand using a bottle brush. All the pieces are dish-washer safe, but keep in mind that some of these pieces are so sharp that they can slice the rubber off your dishwasher racks, so handle with extreme care, and place gently, I've found that standing them upright next to a plate works best. The Cuisinart Elite comes with three blades/discs, all of them stainless steel: an adjustable slicing disc, a reversible shredding disc, a large and small chopping/mixing blade and a dough blade. These blades and discs allow you to do just about anything to food that you could imagine.
The Cuisinart Elite has a sealing system so that the blades and bowls remain locked into position until they are specifically released in order to prevent accidents, and the bowls are very sturdy. The Elite comes with three bowls (small, medium and large) each of which has pour spouts and measuring markings to make the food processing easier. There are also some extras included.
The Cuisinart has a powerful little motor that the company is so certain of that it includes a 20-year motor warranty along with its 3-year limited warranty. The warranties coupled with its overall sturdiness and ability to do different chores with ease makes the Cuisinart a very good deal all the way around.
