I needed a workbench because I never had a place to do my projects. I have a corner in my garage large enough to work in. It has a light and some receptacles, so I decided to use it for my shop. For $175.99, it made more sense to me to buy rather than build a workbench.

The Craftsman 6' length was about right for the small projects I usually do. When I put the workbench together, I decided to purchase the drawer option for the bench. It made the workbench sturdier and a drawer does come in handy. While putting the bench together, I noticed a reference in the instructions about adding more screws if desired and chunked a few more in for the heck of it.

After using the bench for some time, I felt comfortable with it. It works fine for most of the repair projects that come up and it's a good height for a person to use when standing. I wouldn't recommend banging something with a hammer on top of it, but for most other tasks it will do fine. Most people who do light work will be satisfied with this workbench.

For the negatives, it isn't the best piece of furniture you will ever purchase. It goes together okay, but the pieces don't fit that well. The top gets scuffed and scratched rather easily for a workbench. Although it is supposed to be free standing, I found it better to attach it to the wall so it didn't move around while I was applying pressure during a fix-it project.

It would probably be better to buy materials and build your own workbench if you expect to do a lot of work. While this workbench is okay, I would only give it three out of five for performance, stability, and durability.
