Induction cooking is a completely new concept, and to some degree can almost seem like magic. While conventional cooktops will generate a considerable amount of heat, the Burton Athena 6000 produces no discernable heat on the cooking surface. The secret to induction cooking is electromagnetism, which causes the pot or pan on the cooktop to heat up, rather than the cooktop itself. This cooktop will especially appeal to those cooking during the hot summer months, when running a regular range or cooktop will add too much of a heat load to the house.

Anyone who uses a Burton Induction Cooktop will be pleased with how easy it is to use the temperature settings. There are 10 levels of power and 9 temperature ranges to provide accurate and precise cooking of any food. The temperate of the cooktop ranges from 150 F to 390 F. A keep warm setting is also provided for convenience. The Burton Cooktop can be used with any kind of metallic cookware except aluminum, some stainless steel, and copper. If a pot or pan can attract a magnet, it can be used on this cooktop. As some pots have an inner lining of aluminum, be sure that the pot you have chosen will be attractive to a magnet.

This cooktop also has a timer that will keep track of cooking for up to 180 minutes, so food can be cooked to perfection without constant attention. An alarm will sound when the cooking cycle is completed, and the cooktop will turn itself off automatically when the food is done. If a spill does occur, it is unlikely to stick to the surface of the cooktop, either, a damp sponge is generally sufficient to clean it up. There is a jump of 35 to 40 degrees between the settings, so this should be kept in mind while preparing food.

A very attractive feature of this cooktop is that it is quite portable. Even around the home, it is convenient to take it outside to the patio when cooking on the grill. Because of its light weight, it can be taken along while traveling, or used in a college dormitory. Unlike the old fashioned hot plates, the Burton Induction Cooktop poses little threat of fire, and can be tucked away almost immediately after use.

The Burton Induction Cooktop, Athena 6000 consists of a ceramic cooking plate contained in a heavy duty housing of plastic. The black and grey coloration of the cooker, as well as its sleek and modern design assures that it will fit seamlessly into any kitchen setting. It should be noted, however, that the cooktop will not recognize a pot smaller than 4 as a cooking utensil and will not heat it up. Pots and pans must be 4 for the Burton to begin the cooking process.

The Burton Athena 6000 can generally be purchased for around $120.00. A reasonable price for such a useful cooker. This cooktop will cost about half to run what would be needed to run a gas range, so it is very economical. The ease of use and convenience of operation make it a welcome addition to any kitchen.
