Bose Acoustimass® 16 Series II home entertainment speaker system

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

Bose is a name that makes everyone think about speakers when they hear it, so I didn't hesitate to seek out some Bose speakers when my old Kenwoods finally bit the dust. I managed to find the Bose Acoustimass® 16 Series II home entertainment speaker system on sale for about $950, and after doing some research I jumped on it. This set normally sells for about $1400, so I made up my mind that I simply had to have it.

That is a lot of money to spend on home entertainment, but when you spend as much time with your family as I do watching movies, TV shows and playing video games you definitely get your money's worth. I was originally hoping for wireless speakers, but I don't regret getting wired speakers. I'm an old hand at hiding wires, so it's no big deal.

These speakers work great with my current 6.1-channel receiver and the rich depth of sound has never been greater in my living room. The speakers not only surround you physically, but the sounds issuing forth from them do as well. When you're watching a city scene, for example, you actually hear the background noise as background noise, not competing with the dialogue through one or two speakers. This is also great for those who are hearing impaired, as they don't have to jack up the volume to levels that others find uncomfortable.

While they are some of the most expensive speakers on the market, Bose really is a name that speaks for itself. If quality sound is something that you care about, you really can't go wrong with these speakers. I'm an old-school amateur audiophile, so I knew it was only a matter of time before I got my hands on some Bose speakers. And I don't regret my purchase one bit.

I have just bought a second hand Bose 16 ii 7:1, I am running a Yamaha amp and the sound is amazing.
I have doubled up on the center speaker as my amp will only cater for a 6: 1. As I have mentioned the sound is superb and I would recommend this system to anyone looking for a great speaker system both for music and movie. Bose, you have done it again well done.
