Bissell 31N1 Steam Mop Delux

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

I purchased this steam mop to use on my tiled floors, but find myself using it just as often to spot clean my white carpet. The water container is easy to fill and the fabric cleaning pads are a cinch to remove and clean in the washer. It comes with two pads, so I can keep rotating them between mops so that there is always a clean one to use. Replacement pads are also available through major national chains if I ever need to buy a replacement or want to have a few extra on hand. The mop also comes with an attachment specifically for cleaning carpets. This attachment raises the mop pad off of the carpet to make for an easy glide and to avoid saturating the carpet. However, when using it to treat spots, it is just as effective and easier to use the mop just as it is. I clean my kitchen floors at least once a week with this, then take it around the house and give carpet spots a quick blast of steam. I have successfully removed juice spills, a tea stain, melted wax, and "animal spills" this way without the use of chemicals. I have been using it regularly for a year, and the only issue I have had is with the water container's filter. After about six months of using straight tap water, I noticed an odor when I mopped. I determined the source of the smell to be the filter and ordered a replacement online. With shipping, this cost me a staggering $20. However, the smell went away with the new filter and hasn't returned. I now only use filtered or distilled water in an attempt to extend the life of the pricey filter. Over all, the Bissell 31N1 is versatile, light-weight, and highly effective. At only $89, it's a true bargain.
