I purchased a Babylock Ellegante Embroidery machine approximately four years ago and sold it less than two years later. Despite the salesman assuring me that it would be capable of doing everything that I told him I wanted the embroidery machine for, it was not capable of handling the workload that I needed it to. As a result, I frequently had to take it in for repairs and servicing which was very frustrating.

When the Babylock Ellegante Embroidery machine was working, it did a fairly good job. I did find that it was very fussy with some fabrics. I also found it was fussy about what type of thread I used. If the quality of thread wasn't top-grade, it would continually break. Not a really bad thing but it did cost for the thread. I was all that impressed with the salesman that I bought the machine from but had no choice but to take it back to him each time it needed servicing, then I had to wait while he sent it to another location to be serviced. It was usually a week or more before I got it back.

When it was working well, it did a very nice job on the designs. The bobbin thread did tend to tangle more often than I would have liked. I was able to use a large selection of designs via a memory card. The machine is lightweight and very portable so I could take it with me when I travelled. Almost everything, including threading the needle was electronic. The ability to see the design in progress on the screen is great, especially when you have to reverse it to start again at a specific location after the thread breaks. There is an automatic shut-off when the thread breaks but it usually takes a few more strokes before it registers. The top-loading bobbin is handy. Editing a design is fairly easy using the on-screen embroidery editing option. The resizing option allows you to resize and reposition the design. This way you can alter a design to suit your needs. With this machine it is also fairly easy to switch from embroidery mode to sewing mode, a simple switch and changing the feet is all it takes.

Overall, I rate the Babylock Ellegante as very good and would recommend it to the embroidery hobbyist.
