Acco Rexel V30WS Paper Shredder

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

There is a very famous saying along the lines of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.* Well in truth that is something I have just done by purchasing a paper shredder for my personal documentation.* I have been the subject of identity theft, something that is very disturbing and quite stressful.* *
I have always been a little laid back and basically never considered anything of that nature would, or could happen to me.* Exactly how my personal details got into a criminals possession is still not completely clear, but what is apparent is that some low life has managed to produce a false identity, because I have been careless with my records.* *
This is why I now destroy all non-essential paperwork and my Acco Rexel V30WS shredder is perfectly adequate for my needs.* There are much more sophisticated products out on the market, but I only generate perhaps 20-30 items for shredding each month, so anything bigger would have been an unnecessary extravagance.** This model is a ribbon (or strip) cut version with an 8 sheet maximum capacity.* This one is on the small side, but perfectly adequate. *
Its 18 litre waste basket can hold up to 130 sheets of shredded paper so in my case doesn't need emptying that often.* At $155 is a very good buy, I certainly couldn't find another of similar cost at any of the other industry leaders, such as: Fellowes, Aurora or Ideal.* The nearest was an Ideal model which took 12 sheets, but was around 50% more expensive.* Fellowes do a 10 sheet product, but their machines are very pricey and that particular item was nearly 3 times as much as my V30WS.*
No household should be without a paper shredder, they should be made compulsory!* There are so many opportunists out there, but for a modest outlay, such as I made with the Acco Rexel V30WS, then maybe their criminal activities can be rendered ineffective.
