The Suzuki Hayabusa is top of the Suzuki's sport bike range, with black bodywork and bright red decals across either side. It's also one of the most expensive sport bikes at $13,699, but for that price you're paying for one of the fastest bikes available.
The 4 cylinder 4 stroke inline engine is 1340cc, which gives 196.87 bhp at 9500 rpm and 155 Nm of torque at 7200 rpm. That's 0 to 60 in slightly more than 3 seconds, and in real life the Suzuki feels faster than it looks on paper.
Twin disc brakes on the front wheel and one on the back complete a responsive braking system that really helps the handling, and at 573 lbs, the Suzuki is lighter than many f its rivals and therefore quicker. The tank can take up to 5.5 gallons, which is a lot less than you would get in non sports models, making it awkward to take on long journeys but help lessen the overall weight.
Previous experience with Suzuki's made me wary of high noise levels at fast speeds, including the occasional unhealthy rattle. However, the 2011 Hayabusa features oil spray that lubricates the higher gears and avoids any excess and unnecessary noise.
The Suzuki Hayabusa is undoubtedly one of the best motorcycles that I've ridden, regardless of whether its rivals are sports bike or not. It may not be the greenest bike in terms of gas guzzling, but it's also surprisingly comfortable considering how it's built for speed rather than comfort. The ride is very smooth and the handling is phenomenal, especially with the 16 valve engine and 4-2 1-2 exhaust system with dual triangular canisters. The Hayabusa is without doubt one of the best superbikes available commercially.
