My husband and I recently acquired a Ford F-150 King Ranch truck. My interest was piqued when I heard the term 'King Ranch' due to being familiar with the famous spread in Texas.
When I looked inside the cab area, the name 'King Ranch' definitely fit; it's bigger than Texas in there, with storage space galore! The leather seats definitely add a touch of class and the interior has a great design. Being made from saddle leather, the seats should resist ripping or tearing. I checked out the King Ranch website (www.kingranch.com) and learned they offer a conditioner for this type of leather. It does tend to show scuff marks, but then that's characteristic of saddle leather. A downside both we both agree on is the size of the headrests. If they were a bit smaller, it would help eliminate the blind spot on the driver's side.
Living in Idaho, the warming/cooling feature is great. Winters can get brutally cold here and summer tends to be quite hot. Add to that being able to turn the air conditioner or heater on from the house with a remote switch makes for a comfortable ride while backing out of the driveway. Though we don't deal with a large quantity of rain, snow is a fact of life. Thus, the all-weather floor mats help to protect the interior and keep our feet from sliding when getting in.
The size of the truck bed impressed my husband, in addition to the access tailgate step on the bed. It is a great convenience, making entry extremely safe and easy. When he's not carrying his tools for work or bringing in firewood for the winter, he's out hunting with his buddies, so these features were on the top of his 'must have' list. He also likes the way it handles when towing and we both enjoy the fact the truck sits higher, making it easier to see what's around us.
Our one disappointment was learning this model was not available with a manual transmission. The dealer told us Ford quit putting manual transmissions in all F-150s in 2009. Oh well. Given the fact we now have a dependable truck with the comforts of a luxury car, we'll get by just fine.
