2009 Volkswagen Tiguan

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

I'm really not too sure about the name of this small sport utility vehicle but I had it described to me as a Volkswagen GTI but with more cargo space. I'm a big fan of the GTI and I believe it's one of the better cars on the road today. With this in mind I felt I had to get behind the wheel of this automobile and find out for myself if it had the sportiness and style of the GTI but in a thoroughly upgraded chassis.
This sport utility vehicle certainly drove better than many vehicles I've been behind before. The ride was excellent and smooth and it seemed thoroughly adapted for the roadways and did away with the entire off road nonsense so many sport utility vehicles continue to market. I find it pretentious that huge modern sport utility vehicles claim to offer off road capabilities when they can barely make it around a parking lot without running over pedestrians.
The Tiguan definitely had the soul of the GTI and handled just as well as many smaller vehicles. The speed and pep was there. The interior was comfortable and the extra storage space propels the Tiguan into a league of its own against other bulky but lumbering sport utility vehicles.
The displays of the vehicle were also very impressive and seemed to be very cutting edge in their presentation. I was wowed by the production value put into the presentation and display of the vehicle. My only gripe with this model was cost. While it is a sport utility vehicle, it is one of the smallest in the entire class. For the size of the vehicle, the price tag feels like it should be a bit lower. While this is an important, the inflated sticker is a bit much considering the actual size.
