2009 QLINK Sting 150

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

We purchased the 2009 QLINK Sting 150 scooter for my son. Paying right at $1800 for this scooter, my son was sold on the outer appearance and thought the scooter resembled a racing bike and for some reason that was important to him in this scooter purchase.

The 2009 QLINK has standard features. The engine is a single-cylinder, 4-stroke so it has enough power but we're not worried the scooter has too much power. The brakes function well with hydraulic disc brakes in the front and drum rear brakes. This scooter uses gasoline and starts with a kick-start and electric starter.

The safety features are limited and I've never been much of a scooter person myself but my son enjoys riding to and from the neighbor's house on his pricey purchase. That may be the downside here. I can't imagine paying $1800 for a scooter. The gas mileage is good so that's a plus but all comparable models are advertised with major claims of good gas mileage.

The scooter performs well short distances but it isn't comfortable and there's a jarring sensation for the first few minutes into the ride. It's been reliable and functions well for what my son wanted. However, he's not pleased with the overall purchase now that the new has worn off. He wishes he'd saved his money and purchased a motorcycle.

I will mention that when the QLINK is parked next to other scooters, the others in the line-up look more expensive. They don't have the loud scratching sound either, something we've noticed this scooter has after its been on the road for a bit. Overall, I don't really have a strong opinion on this scooter model, but I do feel it's incredibly overpriced.
