I've always been a fan of Hondas but I didn't get the opportunity to drive one frequently until my husband bought a 2008 Civic. One of the reasons that we bought this car is due to the fact that it's so well known for lasting so long. We consider our cars to be long-term investments. Of course Hondas also has a high re-sale rate so if we do choose to sell it, we expect that we'll get a decent amount of money for it.
Another important consideration for us were the safety features. We have two small children and we needed to know that it would be safe for them. The model we bought had a slew of safety features that made us feel very confident. In fact, it actually earned a perfect 5 stars on a government crash test rating.
The only issue my husband has is that he's not crazy about the looks of the Civic. He'd like a more masculine car or a car with a bit more pizzazz. This is obviously a minor complaint when compared to the other factors involved. Indeed, the rest of the interior design is nice. It's not an overly ritzy car but it's an economical choice that gives you plenty of leg room and basic features. The speedometer is in a unique place but we find that it actually helps us glance down and check the speed much more quickly and easily.
Overall, this is a great car for the money. It's reliable and so far we've had no major complaints. The gas mileage is good for a non-Hybrid car. Both my husband and I are happy with the choice we made and would likely choose a Honda againa int he future.
