2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 Extended Cab Long Bed 4WD

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

The 2004 Chevy Silverado is a decent truck. It does have a few problems, but most are just inconveniences. It is comfortable to drive and attractive.

This truck can tow and haul average amounts of weight. While it doesn't have the power of a diesel, it does have plenty of power for most jobs. I have used ours to tow and have even been able to pull out a few stuck cars. Whenever their is a lot of weight in the bed, I am impressed with how well the suspension hold up and how smooth the ride is.

Since getting this truck we have had a couple of expensive mechanical problems. The transmission had to be replaced when it was about 6 years old. I have also had to replace an O2 sensor. The lights have a short and the front left hand safety light only works off and on. The key fob is difficult to use when unlocking doors and has been since it was a couple of years old.

The interior of the truck is very comfortable and roomy. My model has suicide doors, which are always inconvenient and can be difficult to get to close all of the way. There is a 3rd seat in the front row that can fold down into an arm rest when it is not in use. There is a lot of storage space available inside, which is convenient. Sometimes it doesn't lock well and items can come spilling out when you put it up for the seat though.

Overall this is a good truck. It is easy to drive, comfortable and has a decent amount of power. The only real drawbacks are the few mechanical problems that it has had, although they are to be expected with any vehicle after 5 or 6 years.
