It seems that the delay variance is calculated by this formula. Quote: D(i,j)=(Rj-Ri)-(Sj-Si)=(Rj-Sj)-(Ri-Si) The jitter is much more depend on the difference between two packets departure and arrival time stamp. While in some implementation, the jitter depends on the difference between the arrival time of two packets by ignoring the packet departure timestamp. According to the formula in RFC, the packet drop should not affect the jitter. While according to some implementation, the packet drop will affect the jitter. Can anyone comment on this two arguments. Which one is right according to the RFC? Hope this brainstorming will be benefit to all of us.
