THE PRE-EMPTION CAN ACT AS A VERY EFFICIENT WAY TO USE THE COMPLETE BANDWIDTH OF THE SYSTEM. FOR EXAMPLE IN MODERN OPERATING SYSTEMS ALSO WE USE PREEMPTION SCHEDULING OF COMPUTER RESOURCES THIS ENABLES IN BETTER UTILIZATION OF RESOURSES. SAME CONCEPT WILL APPLY HERE. THE PREEMPTION IS BASED UPON PRIORITY AS IS THE CASE OF RTOS(REAL TIME OS). THE PRIORITY CAN BE BASED UPON PREDEFINED PRIORITIES OR UPON ANY OTHER PARAMETERS SUCH AS HOW LONG HAS BEEN THE CONNECTION ACTIVE, OR MAYBE HOW MANY PACKETS HAVE YET BEEN TRANSFERRED ETC. THIS WILL HELP INCREASE THE THROUGHPUT OF THE PACKET SWITCHING SYSTEM AS A WHOLE BUT WILL ALSO INVOLVE LOT OF COMPLICATIONS AS AT THE TIME OF PRE-EMPTION A LOT OF VARIABLES HAVE TO BE SAVED SO THAT THE TRANSMISSION OF THOSE PACKETS CAN B RESUMED AS SOON AS THE HIGHER PRIORITY TASKS HAVE BEEN SERVICED.
