Regarding the Checksum. The sum must be a multiple of two octets (16, 32, etc.) If the sum of source,destination, and data octets are (6 + 6 + 16 = 28) then 4 extra bits would be padded to the data portion of the module to produce a sum of 32 (multiple of two octets).
