Maximum sizes are dependent on the software.For example, earlier versions of Microsoft Outlook Express (OE) had a maximum of about 100 characters for the body, but the maximum was not documented. My guess is that the maximum applies to the entire mailto URL, but that is only guess. Current versions of OE support a larger URL that I think is documented.
