Regarding section “A.2  Host Suppression.”  IGMP version 3 behavior seems ill-conceived.  Since query messages are trivial to forge a single compromised system could easily cause a denial of service condition by repeatedly sending IGMP queries at very short intervals.  The lack of a host suppression mechanism means that the effect of those queries will be amplified by multiple hosts responding to the query, whereas with the host suppression mechanism used under IGMP v2 this type of attack would be much less viable.
