Version Independent TCP MIB RFC 4022 contains a tabular object - TCP Listener Table.  “tcpListenerTable” contains information about TCP4 and TCP6 listeners with indicesof tcpListenerLocalAddressType, tcpListenerLocalAddress and tcpListenerLocalPort. For example consider the case of IPv6 BGP server listening on port number 179with local address as Unspecified (::) and address type as IPv6(2).  If any other VPN6 Instance is configured on the system, then the BGP6 will create another socket in listening mode to listen on same port number 179 with local address as Unspecifed(::) and same address type of IPv6(2).  So, these two listeners cannot be listed in TCP Listener Table during MIB Walk due to identical index values. Here if fourth index like “tcpListenerInstance” is present, then it’ll be useful to distinguish among multiple listeners, listening on same port and address. This new index field is similar to the usage of “udpEndpointInstance” presentin “udpEndpointTable” of RFC 4113.
