Avoid coding in things that will change and has nothing to do about the computer becausechanging names could be a hard thing to do. They get stuck in people's minds.Ower's name is just one bad idea. Other bad ideas may be to use physical location (it will move), kind of machine (it will be replaced by a new model), size of RAM (you'll need more), owner's organization (the owner will move to another part of your company), operating system (vendors will change the name of their OSes)Having names that gives you wrong hints is worse than if it gives you no hints at all. Use a database to provide metadata about your computers.
