20120304969METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR POWERING AN OTTO CYCLE ENGINE USING GASOLINE AND COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS - Described are methods and systems for powering an Otto-cycle engine using gasoline and compressed natural gas (CNG). The Otto-cycle engine can be powered by determining a quantity of the gasoline and a quantity of the CNG to deliver to a cylinder of the engine during an engine cycle such that combustion within the cylinder occurs at a pre-determined air-fuel ratio; delivering the quantity of the gasoline to the cylinder via a gasoline injector and delivering the quantity of the CNG to the cylinder via a CNG injector such that the gasoline and the CNG combust during the same combustion event; and combusting the gasoline and the CNG within the cylinder. Delivering CNG and gasoline to the cylinder using separate injectors allows the quantities of CNG and gasoline to vary in response to engine operating conditions, which allows the fuel mixture to be adjusted to satisfy engine power and emissions criteria.12-06-2012

A deposition cell is provided with a sloped bottom surface and the flocculated fine tailings are deposited to undergo channelless advancement in the cell while allowing drainage of release water. When the deposit is uneven, the deposit may be plowed while wet for spreading and ensuring water release conditioning is imparted thereto, while avoiding over-shearing, and maintaining sufficient shear strength to allow standing. Once a dried upper crust forms, the deposit may be harrowed to break up the crust, expose wet regions there-beneath and create furrows in the standing deposit. The methods improve the dewatering and drying of mature fine tailings in oil sands.04-04-2013

20090068972Methods And Apparatus For Controlling A Gain State Of A Wireless Receiver Operating In An Idle Mode - The settling time of a wireless receiver is reduced by providing a previously utilized gain control state value to an amplifier of a receiver front end during a warm-up portion of a wake-up period of the wireless receiver which follows a sleep period. One illustrative method includes the steps of receiving a notification signal which indicates that the wireless receiver is to be placed in a sleep mode, reading a gain control state value from a gain controller based on receiving the notification signal, storing the gain control state value in memory, providing the stored gain control state value from the memory to the wireless receiver during a warm-up period of a second wake-up period following the first wake-up period, and providing a gain control state value from the gain controller to the wireless receiver based on a signal level of a currently received signal of the wireless receiver after the warm-up period.03-12-2009
20120142299Methods And Apparatus For Controlling A Gain State Of A Wireless Receiver Operating In An Idle Mode - A communication device reads and stores in memory a state value which was utilized for operating a communication subsystem during a wake-up period of the communication subsystem. The device then causes the communication subsystem to enter into a sleep mode. Subsequently, the device causes the communication subsystem to exit from the sleep mode and enter into a current wake-up period. The stored state value is provided to the communication subsystem for use in operating the communication subsystem during a warm-up period of the current wake-up period. After the warm-up period of the current wake up period, a current state value is provided from a state controller to the communication subsystem for use in operating the communication subsystem during the wake up period. The current state value is determined based on a detected signal level of a current signal received in the communication subsystem.06-07-2012

20120322397Methods And Apparatus For Controlling A Gain State Of A Wireless Receiver Operating In An Idle Mode - A technique for controlling operation of a communication subsystem is described. The subsystem is set to a first wake-up mode of operation, during which a state value from the system is read and stored in memory. The subsystem is then set to a sleep mode of operation after the first wake-up mode of operation, and to a second wake-up mode of operation after the sleep mode of operation. 20090264215Golf club shaft angle adjustment technology - Golf club shaft angle adjustment technology that allows the angle of the shaft of a golf club (ie. the lie) to adjust in small increments, and prevents movement as is the case with gears or teeth. The front of the club head consists of a round opening that accepts a corresponding round member on the end of the shaft. The face of the club inside the round opening on the club head consists of a series of half-spherical divots. The face of the shaft member that opposes the face of the club inside the round opening on the club head also has half-spherical divots. Opposing divots are positioned such that two opposing divots are perfectly in-line when the shaft is at an allowable angle. A ball bearing inserts into the perfectly in-line divots prior to sliding the shaft member into the club head opening to prevent movement when tightened. Inside the club head round opening is a smaller round opening that extends through the back of the club head. The round member on the end of the shaft has an attached threaded post that inserts into the smaller round opening of the club head and allows for the tightening of the round shaft member to the club head from the back of the club head.10-22-2009
20100035697Golf club moveable disc shaft angle adjustment technology - Golf club moveable disc shaft angle adjustment technology that allows the angle of the shaft of a golf club (ie. the lie) to adjust in small increments, prevents movement as is the case with gears or teeth, and eliminates the use of small, difficult-to-handle parts such as a ball bearing. The front of the club head consists of a round opening that accepts a corresponding thin round member. The face of the club head inside the round opening on the club head consists of a series of divots. The face of the thin round member that opposes the face of the club head inside the round opening on the club head has protrusions. The protrusions and divots allow the thin round member to be seated firmly in one of a number of allowable positions. The face of the thin round member that faces away from the club head consists of a series of divots, each of which corresponds to a unique shaft angle when the thin round member is in a particular allowable position. The round opening in the front of the club head also accepts a corresponding round member on the end of the shaft (also called “round shaft member”). This round member on the end of the shaft slides into the round opening in the front of the club head after the thin round member is seated firmly in one of the allowable positions. The face of the round shaft member that opposes the face of the thin round member has a protrusion. The protrusion will insert into one of the divots on the face of the thin round member, resulting in an allowable shaft angle. Inside the round opening in the front of the club head is a smaller round opening that extends through the back of the club head. The round member on the end of the shaft has an attached threaded post that inserts through the thin round member and into the smaller round opening of the club head, and allows for the tightening of both the round shaft member and the thin round member to the club head from the back of the club head with a nut.02-11-2010

20080300727METHOD OF CALCULATING PUMP FLOW RATES AND AN AUTOMATED PUMP CONTROL SYSTEM - A method of determining a flow rate of a pump involves determining a volume capacity for a flow line carrying produced fluids from the pump, determining a starting pressure for the flow line and setting an arbitrary target pressure for the purpose of testing. The test is initiated by preventing flow in the flow line while continuing to operate the pump and monitoring pressure in the flow line to determine a time interval required to reach the target pressure. The method then involves performing calculations to determine flow rate using the volume capacity, the starting pressure, the change in pressure over the time interval required to reach the target pressure. The flow rate is equivalent to ΔV divided by a change in time ΔT. The method is preferably used as part of a manual or automated pump control strategy to keep the pump operating within flow rate ranges that provide optimum pump efficiency.12-04-2008
