20100067632LONG TERM EVOLUTION (LTE) RADIO LINK TIMING SYNCHRONIZATION - A method for performing a radio link timing estimation for synchronization to a wireless communications channel such as an uplink channel in a 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in a mobile wireless device or wireless network base station is provided. A channel frequency response estimate from a received reference signal comprising multiple non-coherent Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbols is obtained. A frequency response covariance matrix from the channel frequency response estimate is then generated. Timing offsets of the received reference signal using covariance matrix and timing offset estimation algorithms are then estimated.03-18-2010
20100322179Reference Signal Design For Wireless Communication System - A method and system for identifying a reference signal pattern in contiguous resource blocks received by a user agent (UA) in a wireless communication system where any of one through N contiguous resource blocks may be assigned to a UA, the method performed by a UA and comprising the steps of storing resource block reference signal patterns in a UA memory where the patterns include a separate reference signal pattern for each possible number of contiguous resource blocks that may be assigned to a UA, receiving a resource grant indicating a number contiguous resource block is assigned to the UA, based on the number of contiguous resource blocks assigned to the UA, identifying one of the reference signal patterns in the memory and using the identified one of the reference signal patterns to identify reference signals in contiguously received resource blocks.12-23-2010
20100322341CODE BOOKS FOR MULTIPLE-INPUT AND MULTIPLE-OUTPUT COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS - A method and device for transmitting and receiving data. A device comprises a code book and a transmitter. The code book comprises a plurality of codewords, wherein the plurality of codewords correspond to a plurality of vectors having a largest minimum chordal distance with respect to the plurality of vectors. The transmitter is configured to send a number of wireless signals using the code book. A receiver receives and decodes the number of wireless signals.12-23-2010
20110176629DOWNLINK TRANSMISSION IN A MULTIPLE-USER MULTIPLE-INPUT MULTIPLE-OUTPUT ("MU-MIMO") WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - Information transmission in a multiple-input multiple-output (“MIMO”) wireless communication system is provided. In one embodiment, a method for transmitting information in a MIMO wireless communication system, comprising updating channel quality information (“CQI”) values of a plurality of wireless devices, wherein updating said CQI values consider the effects of interference from transmissions to those wireless devices associated with a pre-assigned companion codeword set; pairing said plurality of wireless devices using at least said CQI values, a precoding matrix index (“PMI”) value and said pre-assigned companion codeword set, wherein said pre-assigned companion codeword set, pre-assigned companion codewords associated with said pre-assigned companion codeword set and said PMI value are updated for each of said plurality of wireless devices; precoding the information for each of said plurality of wireless devices using said PMI value; and transmitting said precoded information to each of said plurality of wireless devices.07-21-2011
20110200018SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMPROVED CONTROL CHANNEL TRANSMIT DIVERSITY - A method for providing transmit diversity in wireless network communications is presented. An indication of a slot structure is received. The slot structure identifies at least a first location of a reference signal within a slot. A first reference signal is transmitted within a first slot using a first antenna. A location of the first reference signal within the first slot is determined by the slot structure. A second reference signal is transmitted within the first slot using a second antenna. A location of the second reference signal within the first slot is determined by the slot structure. In some cases, the slot structure identifies a second location of a reference signal within the slot structure. The second location being offset from the first location, and a third reference signal is transmitted within the first slot at the second location on the first antenna.08-18-2011
20110280220System and Method for Timing Synchronization - A method in a network access equipment is provided. The method includes defining a burst duration for sending a plurality of reference signals. The method further includes determining an interval between ones of the plurality of reference signals in the burst duration. The method further includes defining a burst period for sending a plurality of reference signal bursts. The method further includes sending a reference signal instruction message containing an activation message and at least one of the burst duration, the interval, and the burst period.11-17-2011
20110310861System and Method for Timing Synchronization - The present disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for timing synchronization. Uplink synchronization is a necessary component of a UE operating in a mobile, wireless network. Reliable uplink synchronization generally requires regular uplink transmission containing reference signals. A method is provided that defines a burst period for sending the reference signals, determines an interval between the reference signals, and sends a timing instruction message that includes the burst period and the determined interval. A second method is provided that receives the timing instruction message and sends the reference signals in accordance with the timing instruction.12-22-2011
20120063448System and Method for Uplink Timing Synchronization - A system and method are disclosed for providing uplink timing synchronization in a wireless communication system. The uplink timing synchronization may be provided via a specific message sent from the user equipment to a network access device, or may be calculated based upon data received at the network access device from the user equipment.03-15-2012
