20110195975MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR SUPPRESSING AND/OR TREATING NEUROFIBROMA AND RELATED TUMORS - Germline mutations in the NF1 tumor suppressor gene cause Von Recklinghausen's neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), a common genetic disorder of the nervous system characterized by plexiform neurofibroma development. Using adoptive transfer of hematopoietic cells, we establish that NF1 heterozygosity of bone marrow derived cells in the tumor microenvironment is sufficient to allow neurofibroma progression in the context of Schwann cell nullizygosity. Further, genetic or pharmacologic attenuation of the c-kit signaling pathway in hematopoietic cells greatly diminishes neurofibroma initiation and progression. These studies identify haploinsufficient hematopoietic cells and the c-kit receptor as therapeutic targets for preventing plexiform neurofibromas and implicate mast cells as critical mediators of tumor initiation. Once an image warping has been performed on the respective pixel information, it is routed out of the device through one of several digital signal outputs. A system for routing pixel data is disclosed having two or more of the pixel compositor devices in communication with an image rendering cluster of units (as the source of the incoming stream of pixel data) and a plurality of projectors; as is a method for routing an incoming stream of pixel data having been rendered elsewhere and bound for being projected.02-18-2010
20100201798 DEPTH-AWARE BLUR KERNEL ESTIMATION METHOD FOR IRIS DEBLURRING - A method of estimating a blur kernel distribution for visual iris recognition includes determining a first mathematical relationship between an in-focus position of a camera lens and a distance between the lens and an iris whose image is to be captured by the lens. The first relationship is used to estimate a second mathematical relationship between the in-focus position of the lens and a standard deviation defining a Gaussian blur kernel distribution. A position of an eye of a living being at a future point in time is predicted. A focus position of the camera lens is adjusted based upon the predicted position of the eye. The camera lens with the adjusted focus position is used to produce an image of the living being's eye at the point in time. An actual position of the living being's eye at the point in time is sensed. The first relationship is used to ascertain a desired focus position of the lens based upon the actual position of the living being's eye at the point in time. The second relationship is used to calculate a standard deviation defining a Gaussian blur kernel distribution. The calculating is based upon a difference between the adjusted focus position and the desired focus position of the lens.08-12-2010

Once tiled, the tiles are segmented into regions, with each region having an identifier and other associated information such as size data, boundary data and neighbor data. The tiles are merged by merging columns or rows of tiles into row blocks or column blocks, respectively. The row blocks or column blocks are vertically or horizontally merged, respectively. Merging may proceed by selecting a pair of regions based on merging cost, merging that pair, updating its associated data and data of neighbor regions based on the merge, and repeating for other pairs until merging stop criteria are met.08-20-2009
20110158503Reversible Three-Dimensional Image Segmentation - Aspects of the subject matter described herein relate to reversible image segmentation. In aspects, candidate pairs for merging three dimensional objects are determined. The cost of merging candidate pairs is computed using a cost function. A candidate pair that has the minimum cost is selected for merging. This may be repeated until all objects have been merged, until a selected number of merging has occurred, or until some other criterion is met. In conjunction with merging objects, data is maintained that allows the merging to be reversed.06-30-2011

20110124053POLYMERASE INCORPORATION OF NON-STANDARD NUCLEOTIDES - The disclosed invention teaches processes to amplify oligonucleotides by contacting templates and primers with DNA polymerases and triphosphates of non-standard nucleotides, which form nucleobase pairs fitting the standard Watson-Crick geometry, but joined by hydrogen bonding patterns different from those that join standard A:T and G:C pairs. Thus, this invention relates to nucleotide analogs and their derivatives that, when incorporated into DNA and RNA, expand the number of replicatable nucleotides beyond the four found in standard DNA and RNA. The invention further relates to polymerases that incorporate those non-standard nucleotide analogs into oligonucleotide products using the corresponding triphosphate derivatives, and more specifically, polymerases and non-standard nucleoside triphosphates that support the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), including PCR where the products contain more than one non-standard nucleotide unit. Examples are provides that show this process using 6-amino-5-nitro-3-(1′-beta-D-2′-deoxyribofuranosyl)-2(1H)-pyridone to implement the non-standard “small” donor-donor-acceptor (pyDDA) hydrogen bonding pattern, and 2-amino-8-(r-beta-D-2′-deoxyribofuranosyl)-imidazo[1,2-α]-1,3,5-triazin-4(8H)-one to implement the “large” acceptor-acceptor-donor (puADD) pattern.05-26-2011
